The Rehoboth VegFest, sponsored by VegRehoboth, will be held on Saturday, June 11 but features fun activities that recognize healthy, sustainable, and compassionate living all weekend long.
The weekend kicks off on Friday, June 10 with happy hour from 5–8 p.m. at The Crooked Hammock Brewery located at 36707 Crooked Hammock Way in Lewes. Mingle with friends and dine on great vegan appetizers, veggie burgers, corn on the cob, and more. Afterward, catch the documentary film screening of PlantPure Nation at the Rehoboth Beach Cinema Art Theatre at 8 p.m. This compelling film sheds light on the political influence of the meat and dairy industries, while proving the importance and benefits of a plant-based diet.
VegFest will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church on Holland Glade Road in Rehoboth Beach. This free festival has something for everyone, not just vegetarians and vegans – dynamic speakers, cooking demos, food tastings, exhibitors, a yoga village, a nutrition tent, kids’ activities, adoptable animals, music and more. The first 200 people to arrive will receive a free goodie bag with coupons, treats, and gifts. The Jolly Trolley will offer free rides that day from downtown Rehoboth Beach.
Following the festival, head over to Hobo’s from 4–6 p.m. for a human and dog-friendly happy/yappy hour featuring treats from the crew at Baltimore Vegan Drinks. They will be serving delightful vegan appetizers, cocktails and doggie bowls. Hobo’s is located at 56 Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach.
Finally, round out the evening with an Art Exhibition at Gallery 50, located at 50 Wilmington Avenue in Rehoboth Beach. The exhibit runs from 6–9 p.m. and features photographs of rescued farm animals by local photographer Tara Lausch and “whimsical, beautiful and animal” paintings by Rachel Black. Complimentary wine and vegan appetizers will be served courtesy of The Cultured Pearl.
On Sunday, June 12 at 10 a.m. come to a Vegan Celebrity Brunch at a(MUSE.) located at 44 Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach. The brunch will offer exquisite food prepared by executive chef Hari Cameron, a 2016 James Beard nominee for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic! Join the VegFest speakers for a meal that is sure to inspire.
