It should come as no surprise that in an area filled with great artists, Rehoboth Beach is also home to many incredibly talented performing artists. The Clear Space Theatre Company, located in downtown Rehoboth Beach, is committed to teaching, producing and presenting the performing arts.
The three facets of Clear Space are The Acting Company, a professional acting company producing dozens of performances each season; The Arts Institute, an educational program offering classes to more than 700 students of all ages; On Tour, statewide community presentations using professional actors and outstanding students.
The Acting Company offers approximately 150 performances each year. The talented casts feature students of the Arts Institute, and shows are performed at Clear Space’s home stage in downtown Rehoboth Beach, at the Schwartz Center for the Arts in Dover, and at the Freeman Stage in Fenwick Island. A typical season includes a summer repertory of three popular Broadway shows, two spring musicals, two plays (spring and fall), and a holiday musical.
The Arts Institute offers classes in acting, voice, and more for all ages and experience levels, including adult acting classes, Broadway Bound classes, and Spotlight on Young Performers. All classes are held in the theatre and taught by professional actors and educators.
This year’s holiday musical, ‘A Not So Silent Night,’ will be held on Saturday, December 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the theatre located at 20 Baltimore Avenue. The performance showcases local favorites Matthew Kenworthy, John Flynn, the Family Jewells, and Alicia Dennis who join forces to celebrate the holiday season with the magical sounds of pianos, guitars, bells and voices. Audience members can sing along or just sit back and enjoy this musical journey through traditional and not-so-traditional seasonal favorites. Musical skits are guaranteed to inspire a belly laughing good time. All tickets are general admission open seating and cost $15.
