You’re familiar with the saying “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” right? Or maybe you firmly believe that “there is a lid for every pot.” Well these aren’t just common clichés to wax poetic about but rather steadfast truths at the annual Merchants’ Attic. It's a real-life collector’s dream, as it were.

The event, which draws about 4,000 people annually, is the state’s largest indoor garage sale and offers wonderful treasures that include excess inventory from local businesses, unique garage sale “stuff” and items from vendors who specialize in antiques and collectables.

For decades, the Rehoboth Beach – Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce has hosted spring and fall sidewalk sales to move previous season’s goods and make room for new inventory. The Merchants’ Attic was created out of a need for that final push to sell what still remained. In the early days it was strictly merchants selling overstocks, but it has evolved into a larger show that resembles a huge indoor garage sale.

It’s so popular (with sellers and customers alike) that the Chamber typically holds several each winter. However, due to construction at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center, there will be just one BIG event at Cape Henlopen High School located on Kings Highway in Lewes on Sunday, February 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. While there is no admission fee, donations are welcome and encouraged as they benefit the Chamber’s Event Fund.

There is still space available for vendors. For more information on the event or to reserve a space visit the website or call 302-227-2233, x11.
