Okay, so it’s still May, but everyone with a pulse knows that Memorial Day Weekend is (unofficially perhaps?) the start to summer. The calendar may tell us that the summer solstice is a month away, but in our hearts the season has begun.
So much excitement surrounds Memorial Day Weekend. After a deluge of cool rainy weather for most of the month, the forecast is looking bright for the seasonal kick off here in Rehoboth Beach. With temps looking like they will reach the comfy 70s and 80s, the town is set for all the bathing beauties and beaus to hit the scene for a glorious three-day weekend.
Here are just a few friendly reminders to take note of before you make your way to the beach.
Parking meters go into effect this Friday from 10 a.m. until midnight daily (head in parking, quarters only). Also beginning on Friday, parking permits are required daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in all non-metered areas within the city. Seasonal, weekly and daily passes are available at various locations.
The Rehoboth Beach Patrol begins operation this Saturday at 10 a.m. Hours of operation begin at 10 a.m. daily and run until 5 p.m. on weekdays and 5:30 p.m. on weekends.
Our beaches are SMOKE-FREE (except in designated areas). Please be mindful of this when you head out for the day. Beaches are completely off-limits to pups all day, every day (through September 30), and humans daily between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Alcohol is prohibited from the beach and boardwalk. Beach and boardwalk complete rules and regulations.
The Rehoboth Beach Bandstand kicks off its 2016 Summer Concert Series with Mike Hines & the Look on Saturday at 8 p.m. This season you can expect to see acts that range from local favorites to cover and tribute bands to military ensembles and orchestras as well as family-friendly entertainment including movies and variety acts.
Funland is THE place to play for kids of all ages! It will be open this Friday at 5 p.m. and will be open daily all weekend (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) at 10 a.m. Bring the kiddos (big and small) down to enjoy rides, games, and the Haunted Mansion!
And of course all our restaurants, bars, shops, and lodgings are open for business! We can’t wait to see you down here for another great season of sun, fun, and memory-making moments. Here’s to an exciting season – we look forward to being a part of your summer!
