It is pretty safe to say that Americans are more health conscious these days than ever before. Healthy living is no longer just a catch phrase, but rather, a regular lifestyle people are embracing. In an ongoing effort to “keep your family in good health,” Beebe Healthcare is holding its annual Health Fair this Saturday, February 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Atlantic Sands Hotel and Conference Center located at 1 Baltimore Avenue and the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach.
Registration is not required for this free event designed to promote healthy living for all ages. The event offers presentations, screenings, educational materials, giveaways, cooking and Zumba demonstrations, and entertainment. Free health screenings include glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, BMI, and bone density. Featured physician speakers will discuss health topics including palliative care, chronic kidney disease, and osteoporosis. Flu shots will be provided by the Delaware Division of Public Health. Light refreshments will be served.
This event is just one of many during Beebe’s 100th year celebration. The original Beebe Hospital opened in 1916 with two patient rooms, three beds, and an operating table. The current medical center offers 210 beds and has expanded to include Beebe Health Campus, Beebe Lab Express, Wound Care and Diabetes Management Services, Gull House Adult Activities Center, Home Health Agency, a Nursing School, and six satellite imaging and lab services, including walk-in care centers. Beebe invites you to celebrate their centennial year with historical projects, special events and educational initiatives.
