Over 125 artists and artisans from around the country will display and sell their fine art and fine crafts at the 43rd Annual Outdoor Art Show on August 6 & 7 and August 13 & 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m (Saturdays) and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m (Sundays). The event (open rain or shine) will take place at Rehoboth Art League’s 3.5-acre historic wooded grounds located in Henlopen Acres.
Begun in 1973 by the art community as a way to add new summer events, artists and artisans displayed their work along snow fences surrounding the property and invited the public. It was an immediate success and soon became the most anticipated area summer art event. While most of the artists will set up in booths, some will display their work along snow fences, paying homage to the show’s history. This is a juried event, so visitors are guaranteed to see some extraordinary work.
In addition to being an art show it’s a fun family-friendly event featuring food prepared by Nage and The Point, music, face-painting, historic tours, artist demonstrations, and art exhibits in the galleries. Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the campus and follow it up with a cool, refreshing glass of lemonade outside the Children’s Studio (for the little kids) or an ice cold beer at the Dogfish Head Biergarten (for the big kids).
Enter the raffle to win an original Michele Byrne painting. Michele, recognized for her figurative plein air work, has donated a 30” x 30” beach scene (valued at $3,700) to help raise funds to support RAL’s education and exhibition programs. Raffle tickets cost $5 per ticket or $20 for 5 tickets.
The entrance fee is $5 per adult per weekend; kids under 12 enter for free. The Jolly Trolley will provide shuttle service to the event from Kmart on Route 1 or Rehoboth Beach Elementary School on Stockley Avenue. Visit the website for complete event details or to purchase tickets.
