Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival offers ten days of fantastic films for movie buffs

The award-winning Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival, sponsored by the Rehoboth Beach Film Society, is the oldest and largest event of its kind in the State of Delaware. The event, now in its 19th year, originally began as a way to extend the tourist season, but has developed into a Mid-Atlantic fall destination event attracting thousands of film enthusiasts from more than fifteen states.

This year the festival runs from Friday, November 4 through Sunday, November 13 and includes features, documentaries, and shorts. Screenings will be held at the state-of-the-art theater at Cape Henlopen High School, the Metropolitan Community Church Rehoboth, and the new Cinema Art Theater (CAT) in Lewes, which also serves as the box office for the festival. A festival pass is required to purchase tickets. You can order passes online through November 1. After November 1 passes can be purchased at the box office.

In addition to the festivals 40+ film screenings, there will be a “festival headliner.” IFC Films’ Certain Women stars Kristen Stewart, Michelle Williams, and Laura Dern as three women striving to forge their own paths amidst the wide open plains of the American Northwest. Moviegoers can attend this special screening on Saturday, November 12 at 8 p.m. at Cape Henlopen HS.

The Crooked Hammock Brewery in Lewes will once again be the “social hub” for the event. A special tent area will be set up for all festival-goers and will offer a variety of entertaining and fun activities, delicious food, and well-crafted beers. The social hub will be open November 4, 5, 10, 11, and 12 between noon and 6 p.m. Additionally, there will be Dogfish Head beer tastings at the CAT on Saturday, November 5 and Friday, November 11 at 9 p.m.

Visit the website for more information, a complete program guide, and to order festival passes.
