Hot diggity dog! The 6th Annual Bark on the Boards Dog Walk takes place this Saturday, October 1, at Lake Gerar Park, located at the north end of the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk. Check in and registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with the dog walk at noon.
This year's event theme is ‘Pups for President’ and features a Patriotic Best Costume Contest for all furry four-legged participants. There will also be refreshments, vendors, prizes, giveaways, a raffle, children’s activities, and a fantastic performance at by Mid Atlantic Disc Dogs at 11:00 a.m.
You’ll have a dog-gone good time while taking strides against animal suffering. Proceeds from the event will go to help the homeless animals of the Delaware SPCA. The event also celebrates the off-season when dogs regain their freedom and are welcome back on the boardwalk and beach. So break out Fido’s leash and your kicks (or flip-flops if you prefer) and take to the boards to help animals in need.
No dog? No problem! You don’t need a canine companion to participate. All are welcome to show some puppy love and enjoy a leisurely stroll on the boardwalk, and participate in fun activities for the whole family.
All participating pups must be current on their vaccinations and leashed and under control at all times. Please remember to scoop up after your pet (baggies will be provided). Water stations and treats will also be on hand (and paw). Enjoy an after paw-ty at the Big Chill Surf Cantina, 19406 Coastal Highway, following the walk.
